Diliman Prep wins first PAYA game

From the office of the Athletic Moderator: Aug 21– Diliman Prep won its first PAYA (Philippine Athletic Youth Association) 13-under midgets basketball game over Dela Salle Zobel, courtesy of Nico Lina’s winning free throw at the Xavier Gym in San Juan.

The SkyXplorers led all the way only to crumble in the 4th quarter. The DLSZ rally made a huge mistake when the Greenies fouled the DPS lead scorer with only 3 seconds left on the game clock. Lina sank the first and missed the second as time expired in the rebound play, gifting the SkyXplorers with a 32-31 pulsating win.

After dropping their first two games, Head Coach June Bautista gave DPS a historic first win in their maiden appearance in the PAYA tourney. Game hero Lina led all scorers with 14 points.
